I didn't realize how much text that was going to be to read until after I'd written it. This way is much better - but I want to know, what was the costume and which "important" author did you read?

Merry Christmas, Jane

Samatakah,
Back when I was young and slim, I went to a Halloween costume party as "Irizumi--the spirit of tattoo." I had a friend paint "tattooes" all over my body and I wore a sheer wrap (actually a fringed table cloth!)). It was unseasonably warm that Halloween, which was lucky, so I could show off all of the great body art.

Important author--Jane Austen. I'm not sure how I missed her in high school and college. I was an English major for two of my 4 years at college, and I still missed out on reading her, although I'd certainly heard of her and read about her. I also went back and tried to read Thomas Pyncheon, but never made it through his books.

Angelo, Merry Christmas back.

Adam--stop spamming. NO ONE should enter his site. (but I leave the spam as a warning to all who blog--be prepared!)

I've only lived places where it's too cold to go about half-naked on Halloween!

I was Sappho in 1990 while living in Tacoma, WA, and pretty much ruined the toga look by wearing my longies underneath. But I didn't freeze.

I was living in Cleveland, Ohio at the time. Like I said--it was unseasonably warm--one of the only Halloween's I ever remember in Ohio where I could dress so "fashionably."

Sappho sounds good. Did you recite her poetry?
