So, I'll just say that this comment in today's paper made me laugh.
"We're a Christian community and we don't need this kind of negative thing." Ray Tebuteb on the ground-breaking suggestion first made by Pew Charitable Trust for a marine monument here.
God forbid that some outsider (like Jesus himself) should come here and propose anything! How un-Christian!

I have to read the article I guess.. I don't get the connection between this being "a Christian Community" and the marine monument?
In fact, I'd think as a Christian you'd think it your duty to watch out for the environment.. not take coconut crabs from a "sanctuary island".
The bible is riddled with passages about protecting and taking care of the environment and his animals.
I'd suggest that Tebuteb be more truthful to his Christianity, and begin by reading his bible.. and reviewing the ten commandments ("thow shall not steal" is a favorite of mine)
He was claiming that Pew coming here has divided our community. So it's Pew's fault for promoting a conservation idea, not those (like WESPAC) who want to fish out the oceans that are un-Christian.
"thou" by the way
That's almost as ridiculous as him using the excuse that Asuncion wasn't the Carolinian name for the island and he was "confused".
